The Fair at the PNE - What To Do?

The Fair at the PNE is one of Vancouver’s most beloved summer traditions, and every year it manages to surprise even the most seasoned fair-goers. Here’s my personal list of the top 10 most unique things you absolutely have to try or experience at the PNE this August—whether you’re a foodie, thrill-seeker, or just love a bit of quirky fun!

1. Try the Deep-Fried Everything 🍩 You haven’t truly been to the PNE until you’ve sampled something deep-fried you never thought possible. From deep-fried Oreos to pickle chips, and even deep-fried butter (yes, really!), it’s a guilty pleasure you’ll talk about all year.

2. The Iconic Mini Donuts They’re warm, sugary, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Grab a bag (or two) and enjoy them while wandering the fairgrounds. Trust me, they’re a must. 

3. The Superdogs Show 🐕 If you love dogs, you can’t miss this high-energy, heartwarming show featuring some of the most talented pups around. It’s a crowd-pleaser for all ages.

4. Wild and Wacky Food Creations Every year, the PNE outdoes itself with wild food mashups. Think mac-and-cheese soft serve, cricket burgers, or rainbow grilled cheese. It’s a culinary adventure you’ll be bragging about later!

5. The Wooden Roller Coaster 🎢 This classic ride is a rite of passage. It’s old-school, a little rickety, and absolutely thrilling. Hold on tight and enjoy the view of the city from the top!

6. The Nightly Summer Concerts Check out the concerts featuring big-name acts and local talent. There’s nothing like dancing outdoors under the summer sky with a crowd of happy Vancouverites and fun fact - this year a ticket to a concert includes gate admission! 

7. The Marketplace Wander through the bustling marketplace for quirky gadgets, handmade crafts, and those “as seen on TV” wonders you never knew you needed.

8. The Agricultural Displays & Farm Animals 🐄 Get up close with adorable farm animals and marvel at giant pumpkins and prize-winning produce. It’s a charming throwback to the fair’s roots.

9. The PNE Prize Home Tour the stunning show home and imagine yourself living in luxury. It’s fun to dream—and you might just get inspired for your own home renos! Heads up - the home is not available to view on the actual PNE grounds - you will have to tour the home in the city where the display is set up. 

10. The Playland Games & Rides Channel your inner kid and try your luck at the ring toss or whac-a-mole. The nostalgia hits hard, and you might even win a giant stuffed animal to take home.
